So this is it?
Tinychan is gone. Minichan has half-day old bumps on the homepage. The BBS world is crumbling. Kimmo is silently having his revenge. He knows the scene will suffer, possibly fatally, without the cow. How long can we suck milk out of this dead cow? Matt's titties give soymilk. It is just not the same.

As far as I'm concerned, the BBS scene completely died somewhere around 1999.

After TidyBBS went offline, there's really nothing worth living for these days.

Were you around the scene in the 'golden era', living Kimmo's dream?

Nothing about Telnet was golden, I was too young to understand what the fuck I was doing, and I just barely missed the "goldern era", not that it would have made a difference to me.

To Kimmo it would have been golden. A directly-dialed BBS without even telnet would have been even more golden. He would have had his special BBS that only he with his genius Sysop skills could run, and people would need to suck up to him and deify him. Today any attempt to create a digital dictatorship would be eclipsed by retardchan, facefuck, shitter, and a world where anybody can throw up a board (even for free with no effort technical skills).

Kimmo would have made a typical Sysop, really. They were all jerks and wanted everything a certain way. I suspect he studied up on how real Sysops acted back then and adopted their mindset. A web-based BBS really is a whole lot different, though.
