Topic: Is peanut butter and mayonnaise sandwiches an American concoction?

Cathy !TGirlYJKXM started this discussion 13 years ago #26,694

Or does it belong to some Czechoslovakian or French origin?

I started thinking that only in America can you find something such as this, but then I realized that's giving the country too much credit. Then I started thinking what other countries might have concocted it so I thought about where my mother's family background resides which lead me to wonder if it might have been from the Czechs or the French.

Just wondering about who originally had the idea to make this sandwich and why it's somewhat known by a minority.

I must admit, from seeing pictures of it online, I want to try it yet I feel disgusted by the idea.

My mother used to kid about parents who sent their kids out with Mayo only Sandwiches. Mayo was not used in the home I grew up in UNLESS MoM made it from scratch. Simple to make but labor intensive.

Stuff in jar compared to home made NOT NOT even close - Like diff tween Apple n Orange.

Adding that the combo of Peanut butter mixed with Mayo is not so healthy for several reasons.

Funny story, I actually have had peanut butter and mayonnaise. Let me tell you, no one would ever do that intentionally.
