Well, I kind of feel the same way about the first books as I do the movies. Get them out of the way, and then you can move on to the good stuff.

I wanna recommend a movie to you guys. It's called Undefeated and it's available on netflix to stream. It's a documentary about a football team from Tennesse that has never won a championship in their 100 years of existence. The city they're from, Mannassus, was once booming with jobs until the company that was employing the majority of the city's people went down under. After that, as would be expected, the city turned into a total ghetto shithole, nobody had jobs, houses became abandoned, and the youth suffered. In 2005, this white dude started coaching the manassus football team, and he basically becomes the father figure the kids never had. In 2011, a film crew follows the team and captures some pretty amazing stuff--the team's winning streak, the turning around of a couple of seemingly hopeless kids' lives, and a sad yet real look into the poverty that some African-Americans are born into. It's also very inspiring and well done.
Sidenote: At first it's a little slow, but if you like these kinds of stories, stick with it and it'll be worth it. 10/10 would watch again.
