One I had a wisdom tooth removed, and it was up in the jaw. So they had to use a soldering tool to break it into pieces. It smelled like burning hair. Then when they were pulling it out, I could feel it tugging from my head.

Yeah, most likely it was a drill for the actual tooth, we use a soldering type tool for removing tissue, maybe that was it? I'm not as familiar with impacted wisdom teeth removal, I assist a general dentist, so we do lots of root canals, fillings, and crowns. We sometimes take out teeth if they're easy to remove. And yes it smells horrible. Burning tooth (from friction of the drill) smells terrible, but the burning flesh smell from the electrosurge (cauterizing tool) smells so awful. Unless you like the smell of burning flesh.

I have a friend who is OCD and he religiously flosses and brushes and he still has cavities every time he goes to the dentist. Then we have patients who never need anything done.
