Topic: West Virginia is my favorite state in the union.

The lack of people is quite nice, and the mountains are absolutely beautiful. The history is rich and noble, despite the people being historically poor and of the lower class. A truly lovely state.

I always loved visiting West Virginia, even though I knew I didn't get much in the way of presents there. I have roots, heritage in West Virginia, and I will not abandon it or hide it. Same with North Dakota, though the people there are wealthier and the landscape is not even close to being as exciting.

It is a beautiful state, and I dont think that it should be embarrassing to enjoy being there.

People think it's a shithole full of racist hillbilly rednecks, and it is full of racist hillbilly rednecks but goddammit it isn't a fucking shithole people, just because it doesn't have a 3-story shopping mall and BMW dealerships on every corner. It has natural beauty, and is only rivaled in the states by Alaska and Northern California.

I can appreciate a place with nature, but many people now, even hate being outside at all.

I hate the outdoors here because it is nothing but urban sprawl and straight streets. Boring. West Virginia is beautiful and sadly being destroyed by the mining companies.

Florida is very flat, but has some very nice flora and fauna.

I am kind of afraid of people finding out my Scots-Irish West Virginian heritage IRL. People seem to forget that even if they are poor borderline-southern hillbillies, West Virginia still fought for the north. O have union soldier ancestors on my father's side. NO confederate soldiers. However, I do have southern German heritage on my mother's side, and yes my great-grandparents fought for the Nazi regime.

They are. It has beautiful beaches, clear water. cobblestones, bird and animals of many kinds, and really pretty beachy old buildings.

Has anyone ever found out of reacted poorly? Which would have more stigma among your peers, being related to nazi's or West Virginians?

That sounds wonderful. Like Mackinac Island.

Definitely West Virginians. Plenty of kids here have Nazi roots, or at least claim to have it. Many more had ancestors that fought in the Wehrmacht. West Virginia just has the hillbilly stigma, like the Upper Peninsula.

Its nice. It has a lot of bed and breakfast's, and casual bars. People seem to drink all of the time, but slowly, and you never really see blackout or mean drunks.

Sounds like a nice winter-time paradise to me. @previous (kook !!mCVqftDha)
They are rather snobby, but not as bad as Bloomfield Hills. We do get a lot of residents from there coming to shop at our mall (Somerset Collection), and they are always spoiled rotten with their Lexus and BMW automobiles their daddies gave them. And to think I feel spoiled for having a Golf TDI.

Do they act snobby when you see them at the mall, or other places?
