Just make sure everything is sterilized. My half sister got her navel pierced and it turned into a huge skin infection. But that's rare.

I've had my tongue, eyebrow and both my ears all done at different establishments at very different prices. All of them have gotten infected at some stage or another (excluding my tongue). Just clean your piercings everyday with plenty of salt water and don't use any of that antiseptic shit it will just irritate the piercing.

Numbness isn't a big deal, mine aren't sensitive anyway. As for the other, it seems really rare, if you knock it about lots and create lots of scar tissue, or if it's done improperly.

healing time looks to be 6-10 weeks for basic healing, and 6 months to a year for a fully healed piercing
