I've been running lately and my leg has been hurting a bit, it's in between my knee and where my waist begins, so I think those are my quadriceps, correct me if I'm wrong. Today I decided to go for another run, and I really fucked it up, it hurts pretty bad, and is shooting pain down towards my shin. What do? Obviously I'm not going to be running again in the immediate future, but how long should I give it? A few days, a week? Cut my leg off? Please help. Thanks. Thanks.
Also, Syntax: being a runner yourself, your illegible gibberish is welcome in this thread. Ok.

Ouch - Me I wood not run if it hurts - ceems 2 me its asking for more damage. On occasions I fuck up my foot(feet) during a rock climb- cannot run on but OCCD? Need the miles so wot I do is take shoes off and move as fast as I can through the Ocean a Blue cold water - works wonders on my feet - Quads? Dude cool it with run and let inflammation go down n if ok on Asprin? Use it NOW
Hit web for recommends on Cold vs Heat and when and how2 -
I used to swim laps and still on occasion do swim in the Ocean instead of running - I am obesseseessed on getting my Aerobic work out in one way or other as hooked on the Runners High!! Major Hooked.

Adding - many very many years ago I got major training in First Aid from US Marines- now out of touch with much but I HAVE taken other courses since.
Mostly re mountain climbing needs. They teach the number one rule - Pain any injury the body rushes to defend the area with fluids. Body can OVER React and one ends up with Inflammation of areal and more pain.
White blood cells that rush in do fix up and help the injury but with the over done it can cause damage YOU and only You can help take control of your own body or rush to doc
So its real real real Important you know how to cut down that inflammation before it does more damage. Cold and NSAID aka Asprin Motrin etc NOT Tylenol - Tylenol and other things of that ilk kill pain but not Inflammation-
Hit web n read Now
ADVIL GOOD GOOD

Thank you syntax. It looks like cold application is what I need right now, and I'm about to go see if we have some frozen peas to use. If not then I'll just grab some ice cubes and throw them into a thin towel. I was having this pain several days ago, and it seems that I didn't let the injury heal. My mistake was going for a run today. Sucks because now I'm going to be fucked for several days, which I definitely don't want. Suppose I will just have to just manage with less intense exercise.
Thank you very much though, you helped a lot!

Yea it sucks and I do worry myself- On occasions a knee will start to feel nasty - I keep on running to get past it - So I know I could do damage and pray on run that it will be ok - So far it has BUT BUT
This is always towards the first 2 miles - IF I were to get that pain on say the last 2 miles I wood stop in a flash- Reason is that the built up Endorphins can mask the pain and greatly reduce it but not the real problem. Down hill Skier's know the last hour on runs is the most dangerous - Runners high and you get stoooopid and I have.
Rule in first aid is always to use cold and there is a school of thought that says NOT TO COLD - So be careful with going overboard on Cold cause to much can do its own damage but mask the pain.
To cold and you can also burn skin - cause over reaction but do hit web and read the various info about this point
Heat is always done after a point where things calm down and its used to get blood flowing for more rapid healing but NOT in first hours or first 24 in most cases - I am rusty on that break point re Cold and then Heat so I wood hit net for a quick wot to do.
Peas - sure and then for dinner eat lol

@OP
You're very good at interpreting Syntax's posts. I would have dismissed all of this as semi-related anecdotes and lies about meeting important people.
@407,173 (beckyderp !CATLDyPIBQ)
Yeah, my leg is also fine. Thanks for asking.

It's perfectly fine now. My problem was not stretching/warming up well enough beforehand. Only thing now is that the weather has been such shit I've had like zero motivation to go and run lately.
