So I've seen all kinds of articles lately arguing bars are a dying institution. They say bars were only ever popular because they were the best place to find sex, and now the Internet does a much better and more direct job of that. Furthermore, only alcoholics and people too poor, old or stupid to own a computer frequent bars anymore. And who wants to fuck them?
But couldn't it just be $10 cover, the $5 beers, and the crappy economy?

This lol. I could buy a 12 pack for the price of 2 beers in an average bar. I know they have to charge that much to cover the rent and whatnot but it's not worth it to me. Also, you have to either stay sober enough to drive home, find a designated driver, pay $9001 for a taxi, or risk getting legally and financially buttraped with a DUI.

Before everything went bust we had 8 bars in our small town (village) which was probably overkill to begin with anyway. Now we have 4. Bars in Ireland are a great place to meet people and catch up with friends, but now we do all that on Facebook. It's a bit sad when I think about it.
