Next step and only cause your questions lead me in this direction (you do need to learn a bit more) So and this is real simple.
U could hit Start and that little search box at bottom - type wireless - It should say add a wireless device -
See if that gets you going - It should be able to tell you wots wrong or even fix it for you - If you get all kinds of other messages where it cannot find (maybe your wireless device worked itself lose? Failed? but probably glitched OUT-
So next step is easy as well and takes 3 mins or so to do and its a good thing to learn in case of any crash in future.
Type in the same box Restore. Hit that box you see and when you get to the select a date - Pick one two days before the crash - be sure you remember the last day it worked - very important- You could pick that day if available? Best to go the day or 3 b4.
When you say YES follow the simple steps and wait wait wait - maybe 3 -4-8 mins for full reboot and touch nuttin till all looks normal and its tyme to bring up your browser and then see if wireless is a go.

And it should because for one of three reasons it thinks you do not have a wireless device.
1: If its a card? You need to use whatever you are using to communicate with us - and hit google and type in the model number of the Dell and then ask for location of wireless card - Is it a laptop? If so it will be on the side and flush or almost flush depending on model- and maybe its supposed to be flush but sticks out a bit and then u just PUSH it all the way IN.
2: It failed - bet not - very reliable but of course any part can break
3: Most likely if its not lose and pushed all the way in solid - ITS A Software glitch - and system restore will fix that 99% of the tyme- You have NOTHING To lose for trying System Restore and its tyme you learn to use it cause with MS products its your first lifeline for any major issue.

Have you tried to find it with the Add Hardware Wizard?

The regular way is and by now u did locate Location of your Wi-fi card?
Turn off computer - yes you could leave it on for those looking in and being picky - but for YOU turn off computer and pull out the card - Push card back in and turn on computer.
When it has fully booted UP - Card may now work and if not you will see the Install Wiz IF IF the software driver has not been corrupted!!!!
So if I assume you were not lucky re device worked its way out of connector - I am taking a leap of faith and assume you have a corrupted driver - This all gets fixed IF you do a full System Restore to a day or 3 b4 the crash.
Its so simple and you really do need to learn how to use for other future problems - In XP it was just something you did every now and then with any heavy computer use -
So please turn computer OFF even when people say u not need2 - pull card out put back in and turn on and wait - 75% chance your good to go. if not System Restore

Yea but wiz works off the API of Device Manager and when he used that API it did not see his Wi-Fi card - So IF I assume the card is not firmly set in to socket? Its just a mechanical connection fail.
Solution push in - and Wiz may come up re New Hardware - but Dells and HP are set up at factory so that wi-fi card can cum and go and not look as new hardware - just a every day event and puter boots up and all works in transparent mode. A new printer wood bring up the Wiz using the API of Device Manager
IF Card is connected then its probably a corrupted software driver fail - jest needs values as found in the settings from a prior good install as in Sys Restore

I think you mean you do not no where its located? How to get it out and try to reseat it? Hit the web for the manual that shows you where it is and how to pop it out- My IBMs now called Lenvos are different then my others and one takes a nut pick to get my card out.
But take a look at the places for help via links I gave you and see IF many the steps make sense b4 u spend money UNLESS you have excess wealth and if so then help economy and do get money in2 techs pocket
