I mean, if people are just standing around motionless, wouldn't a bird occasionally get confused and land there? Yet I've never had a bird land on my head or seen it happen.

Years ago in my married days. I was on a business trip n discovered the change of leaves colours they have on east coast - Called my wife and said you gotta join me in Boston for the weekend.
So she flew out I rented a car and we drove to New Hampshire and hit the appalachian trail towards the White Mountains. On 2nd day of backpacking while standing around for a quick break a bird landed on my wife's shoulder. We were speechless. This lasted about 5 mins because of course we did not move one micro inch. Later when telling locals about this and describing the bird they said it never happens.
Was a large bird about 1/2 the size of a Raven and had colours like blue

I'd imagine it has something to do with birds being smarter than people.
