Yes, but neither of the major parties (nor their politicians) really abide by the whole document. Kind of like how Christians are "guided by the Bible" but just follow the bits that are convenient for them.

Well, I used to be, but then I realized it's not about the law at all. It's about power. There was a time when power was used to uphold the constitution and the rule of law. Back then the constitution was just great. But today, power is used to circumvent the constitution and escape the rule of law. Seems the constitution's only relevant when power makes it so.
