Then it will make sense to convert them to automatics. You can gain a much higher profit, but you don't have much to lose. They'd be just as illegal.

They've already printed receivers that can withstand 600+ shots. Considering that is the part that needs the licence, and other parts will follow in the future, yes, those bans are obsolete.

I'll grant you that a receiver, stock, magazine, and probably even lock can be 3D-printed or fabricated at home, but the barrel cannot be homemade in the foreseeable future. Once the 3D-printed AR-15 takes off, government will pass the Won't Somebody Please Think of the Children Act of 2016 and require a license to buy gun barrels as well.

Yes, hence my use of the word "primitive". Obviously they can't do unreasonable stuff but their ability to quickly make lots of useful stuff out of raw material is pretty fucking rad.

They had things like Heisenberg compensators, I'm sure all replicators on the enterprise were run through a buffer system that prevented any dangerous reaction from occuring in real time.
