I just watched one of the creepiest and unsettling movies I've seen in a while. It's called Sinister, and I highly recommend you nerds check it out. It has to do with snuff films and the supernatural. Here's the plot, taken from an IMDB review:

Ellison, played by Ethan Hawke, is a true crime novelist who is looking to publish a bestseller more than ten years after the release of his hit book, "Kentucky Blood". Ellison moves his family (a wife and two young kids) into a house that was the scene of a grisly crime, leaving a mother, father, and two children dead, and a third child missing. Upon moving in, Ellison finds a box of super 8 films in the attic. On the tapes are the murders of the family who previously lived in his house and four other murders dating back to 1966. The only connection between the murders is a symbol found in all the videos. With his marriage deteriorating and his children's behavior becoming increasingly strange, Ellison is determined to connect the dots and possibly even solve the string of gruesome murders.

My take: Don't watch the trailer, just check it out. I've heard it makes the movie seem shit. But yeah, this movie was grate and it left me feeling unsettled and scared. They show the snuff films in the movie, and the grainy quality of the 8 millimeter films paired with the very fucking creepy music really made this movie. Watch it nerds.

You rock. But yeah, the reason why I put your name in the title is that I think you would really like it, I do feel like we have similar taste in movies. I just really enjoyed it, and that's not something I often say about horror movies, at least the ones that are coming out nowadays. But ok, hope you enjoy!

I don't, sorry. Not in this genre, at least. When I find another good one I'll let you know. Did you try it out though?

Oh well this one is kind of random, its nothing like Sinister, but I watched it a while back and enjoyed it. It's called Dolls and pretty sure it's on Netflix. You may have seen it already though.

Ok it's this 80's horror flick about demons, and I'm pretty sure it's by Dario Argento. It may have originally been in Italian and then dubbed over in English, I was never sure on that. It always scared the living shit out of me as a kid, and last time I watched it, a year or so ago, I still found it pretty horrifying. It's worth a look. I should mention it's extremely cheesy, but it's still good. Here's an image of the Demons. Also did you finish Sinister?

I watch a lot of documentaries... Hell and Back Again is the only one I would think would appeal to you. Crumb was one of my favourites.

I completely agree on the ending. My best guess is that they ended it that way to leave space for a second movie (which will inevitably be shit). But yeah, god those snuff films. That shit was difficult to watch.

squeegee !first/o5zA replied with this 13 years ago, 4 minutes later, 3 hours after the original post[^] [v] #393,764

i finished it, it was pretty good. i called the ending though. i had the killer pegged early on. i thought, but how could this be? there's no way, but then supernatural stuff happened and i was like, oh, well, ok. Be it is. then when deputy so-and-so revealed a seemingly trivial detail i was all, hey, i wonder if they'll go all the way with it and i was all, mmhmm.
not to give anything away, but it was like that one movie that kind of ended the same way and everyone was like, oh that's cool, neat ending.

I am glad you guys enjoyed it though. It obviously had its flaws, but it's certainly one of the better scary movies I've seen in quite a while. I was pretty scurred.
