Alcoholism is in your mind, it's a social construct.

This fucking poison is like a curse cast upon my entire family.

How frequently do you drunk?

People act like getting drunk is actually that fun. It isn't.

It really isn't. It fucking sucks, but it leaves me in a trance. It leaves me distracted. And happy.

It's not that black and white. I've been drinking for a couple of years now and I've done ok. A.A sucks though.

Why even go to A.A.? It's a scam.

I get told to go to a meeting every day. Despite having other obligations. Half of the meetings are over 40 miles away. How would I get to them if I can't even drive? And the meetings themselves are awful. 'I got drunk and ran over a woman'. Makes me want to drink more rather than stay away from it.

According to every A.A member it is the best book ever.

The religious aspects of A.A make me uncomfortable. People are their to get over an addiction, they don't need fucking religious propaganda shoved down their throats.
Goddamn, I would have thought that the British A.A wouldn't have that crap.

Are there any other help groups you could go to?

Yeah. A drug and alcohol dropin service. All you do is sit there though. I don't really need support for alcohol anymore. I drink once or twice a week now, and a lot less in one sitting than I used too.

imho....aa is an OK thing.....it is just not something you need to pledge allegiance to and depend upon for your sobriety....it is just a 'tool' that many find to be helpful....to one degree...or another..
