You know what? I am sick of lying about my heritage. My dad's parents came here from West Virginia (of Scots-Irish and Irish descent) and my mom's parents came here from North Dakota (of German and Norwegian descent). They came for Detroit automotive jobs. Fucking happy? I'm not some European superstar. I'm just a typical Midwestern teenager born to a once impoverished family. They had me born across the border in Windsor because they wanted me to be unique.

i'll celebrate Christmas with my kids, but i likely won't raise them.... well, super religious. i guess that kinda depends on what the wife wants, or even possibly whatever the demands are from our families. My family would probably insist on some kind of christian upbringing, so i'd probably take them on major days and skip a lot of regular sundays.
that's what my brother was doing, then his kids got a little older and got made fun of once because they didn't go to church regularly (or something like that, it might've been peer pressure from other parents in their social circle) but now they go every sunday and the kids go to sunday school and all that jazz. I think mostly to normalize their upbringing. My brother doesn't want his kids to be statistical outliers or be out of the ordinary in a negative way.
i think he figures it won't hurt them, we were all raised christian and we turned out okay.

also, i will say that trying to teach children to choose to make ethical decisions based on reason alone is impossible.
but, the concept of God and morality taught through good story telling is much easier for kids to process.
