I drive a 2006 TDI Golf. And yes, I live in a suburb. It's full of SUVs.

I don't understand you, Walter. You're intensely proud of living in the Detroit metro area, yet you want to twist the knife and kill off what remains of the American automakers. Look what happened to GM when gas hit $4. Now it's a bankrupt government-owned shell of its former self. Why not just take your Golf and drive to SoCal and live there? They have Whole Foods there too, you know.

They make shitty cars and deserve to die off and be forced to sell their factories to better, foreign companies that will make better use of us.

Yes. They can't even get 26mpg. It's pathetic. They are unbelievably inefficient.

I don't know, but my Galant is getting a good 30-35 mpg. Not like I worry about prices of gas anyway. I round up to spend $5 a gallon regardless.

Inefficient in terms of MPG. Incredibly efficient in terms of torque.

Bullshit. The TDI V10 Tuareg outputs more torque than the Duramax.

The SUV-driving assholes are the rich people who bitch about it like a first world problem but still pay it no problem. The people it really hurts are the low income people driving used Toyotas and Hondas to save money. It also hurts the lives and businesses of people who depend on their cars and transportation for a living. It'salso causes the prices of all goods to increase because of the fuel costs associated with shipping. It's incredibly juvenile of you towant fuel prices to increase just because you don't like rich people. Some day you'll grow up and have to pay for your own gas and you'll change your tune.

Notice how I only said that I want the price of GASOLINE to rise. I drive diesel. Food transport uses diesel. Hybrids and SUVs, two things I hate, use gasoline.

The two aren't tied directly together but there'sa strong correlation. They are both petroleum products and if gas goes up your dieselis going up too.

When did this become a debate about whose car is better? I don't give a fuck that you can use vegetable oil. It's probably more expensive than diesel.

I get about 32 mpg out of my Corolla, but I've also had hours cut at work and money is money. I don't care if it goes up a few cents, but anything above $4/gallon is fucking ridiculous. It would be nice to see it below three again. it costs everyone no matter what you drive.
