The Oxford comma just makes more sense. I wouldn't necessarily shitlist someone for failing to use it, but I would get irritated.

Ah, yes. I always thought using the extra comma made more sense, but Kimmo's rage really reinforced my use of it. There are a few situations where using the Oxford comma can make the meaning of a sentence unclear, but you can usually work around those in practice.

It's pretentious, redundant and inappropriate when the items in a list are all expressed as single words. Yet it's quite brilliant, respectful to the reader, and totally welcome when items in a list are multi-word expressions.
I use it as I do all things, in circumstances where it is appropriate.
