This, plus the sedentary lifestyles, and the wealth. Wealthier countries are always fatter. Even the homeless in America are overweight.

> Also poor people food is incredibly fattening that's why

In general I disagree with that statement.

I have traveled the world from Chile to China and Australia to Siberia. One key observation. People in poor areas if they can afford meat? Its lean lean meat cause animals raised for meat - Its get them to market fast with no money or tyme to fatten them up. Meat is usually cooked slow and loooooong. Soups n stews. People cannot afford cars so they walk everywhere.

When people get money they can afford the Oil to fry something and buy meat that is fatty and they eat more of it. Poor as long as they do not get hurt also live longer then rich.

Best health is found in Asia and Mediterranean areas. Lots of veggies and meat as a condiment only. Arab food is really lots n lots of what look like variations of Salsa's. Poor areas end up eating a lot of fiber which is great for health.

I suspect you mean poor as in USA where people eat cheep fast food and not so poor that a car is out of the question. Couch potatoes eating fried food n getting Fat.

I never had any large respect for good spelling. That is my feeling yet. Before the spelling-book came with its arbitrary forms, men unconsciously revealed shades of their characters and also added enlightening shades of expression to what they wrote by their spelling, and so it is possible that the spelling-book has been a doubtful benevolence to us.

AND

SPELLING

I don't see any use in having a uniform and arbitrary way of spelling words. We might as well make all clothes alike and cook all dishes alike. Sameness is tiresome; variety is pleasing. I have a correspondent whose letters are always a refreshment to me, there is such a breezy unfettered originality about his orthography. He always spells Kow with a large K. Now that is just as good as to spell it with a small one. It is better. It gives the imagination a broader field, a wider scope. It suggests to the mind a grand, vague, impressive new kind of a cow.
- speech at a spelling match, Hartford, Connecticut, May 12, 1875. Reported in the Hartford Courant, May 13, 1875

Why, there isn't a man who doesn't have to throw out about fifteen hundred words a day when he writes his letters because he can't spell them! It's like trying to do a St. Vitus dance with wooden legs.

Why do people always do that? What is it about identity that so colors an argument? I find it curious you failed to ask about my education level, or whether or not I know anything at all about biology. Instead, you choose to focus on a largely superficial aspect.

Anyways, if you must know, I'm about 22% body fat. Which isn't all that fat looking, but of course by modern Hollywood-induced medical standards, it may as well be grossly and violently obese.

But again I ask you, exactly how does my being fat my modern standards alter the reality that fat is an organ serving vital purposes?

The ability to "get fat" is most certainly the result of evolution. Rising obesity rates in modern society are the result of not using the fat organ for its evolutionary purpose, which is to enable fasting. Refusing to fast is refusing to give the body a stress it's designed to manage.

Then why is Norway not fat?

Anonymous C replied with this 13 years ago, 2 days later, 1 week after the original post[^] [v] #390,209

Norway is fat. The BMI of Norway is on an upward trend and is not much lower than the BMI of the United States.

> "Over half of adult men in Norway are overweight and 15-18 per cent are obese"

If you're implying that people in Norway should be even fatter than Americans because they have a higher GDP per capita (PPP), it's because it's not just related to wealth. It also depends on the culture, what sort of food they eat, how sedentary their lifestyles are, how common is exercise, is the economy more service or more labor, do people walk and bike more than they drive or use public transportation, etc.
