He said he wil quit before we meet, however it's just months away and nothing has changed. I feel we are prolonging the inevitable. We'll break up as were supposed to meet because I dont want to date a smoker. He knew this since we started this thing. Its been over a year his habit hasnt changed. He thinks he can quit the day he meets me and never start. I am pissed I love this guy But refuse to be with him if he thinks smoking is OK

Have you talked to him about this or is it just like something you mentioned once in passing

Why would it change now?

He knows its an issue for me. My greatest pet peeve. I used to get so angry about it so now I'm trying to not talk about it and just trust him to quit when the time comes

Why did he tell me he likes me? Why be with me all this time if hell never quit so he knows were just gonna break up? Im so sad.

I love him so much, What about him? Doesnt he love me enough to want to stay healthy to stay with me for a long time? I love him so much it makes me too upset to know hes smoking and it'd be easier to not be together than make each others life hell (because I will fight about it every day) I just don't believe I don't love him "enough" to put up with that.

Well as a guy trust me, guys are fucking stupid sometimes. Maybe he has reasons for not quitting yet. Like he is an Internet Boyfriend right so you're not physically there and maybe if he has no support at home from people who are there for quitting (It's really, really, really hard) then he just is unable to do it like that. Maybe pool your money and buy some of those e-cigarette things, they give you the nicotine but nothing else, they are way better for your health. It only takes 72 hours for a noticeable effect which he will probably enjoy.
Oh and also get him to start working out. Like talk about how he'll need to be healthy for all the sex or something lol.

Okay Anon B... I'm trusting you. You sound like you're right - he lives in a country where smoking is normal, natural. I guess he has to quit AFTER we meet...Which I hate...But I guess I'll give him the time and try to help him. Ugh ugh if he doesn't quit I will be so sad because I'm too stubborn to be with the love of my life. I wish he never started. Sometimes I wish I'd just start.

I could settle for an idiot at my school, or a druggy drop out, just because they're in my area, or I could have my pick on the Internet lol. It's 2013 who cares

"Meeting" is not the same as maintaining a healthy romantic relationship. @previous (A)

LDR are attainable and a good way to meet someone you gel with.

I'm not going to end my relationship because it's the internet and might be silly to Anon. Due to current life situation and circumstances etc, it'll turn into a cheap long distant relationship in less than a year, so I'm ok, if he quits smoking!

Bet you have not had this experience. Kissing a smoker is GROSS GROSS GROSS.
The smell is bad enough. I dance a lot. Often girls I do not know will ask me to dance with them. IF I have seen them smoking, I say no thanks. High speed dancing and those lungs start to expel that terbacco someThing Awful. If he really wants YOU he can start the patch and join a program.
Cancer is his his only other option and its a HORRID HORRID Long slow ugly death he will end up with.

I have kissed a smoker before, and it really is gross. But I nag him so much about it. I tried to get him to add an hour every morning before he started his morning cigarette, but he could not get past the first hour. Why'd he even agree to it? He said he'd do something as a new year resolution but nothing has changed. He "claims" he hates it then later when I get pissed off he tries to justify it, like "it can't be that bad derp"!! And then I don't even know what to say, as my brain makes the whole list of how bad it is... :S
:S Smokers just upset me. I wish it weren't true. I wish he'd just quit... He says it's hard but I think I saw a thread on minichan where people made some cool suggestions. he sucks. me knowing these things don't help. Ugh
