Sucks OP. This happened to my bf a while ago and ever since I've been more aggressive in getting to know my own dad. It's sad how distant many of us are from our own fathers. I couldn't imagine not knowing my mother's own favorite color, her favorite foods or her what kind of movies she likes. I never knew any of these things about my dad before I pressed the issue. Men are excessively guarded.
