I never said they lived privileged lives. Okay, so how many parking spots are there in a parking lot that are handicap reserved? Only a few right? Okay, all of those get taken up by people who are legitimately handicapped. So the next cripple who pulls up is shit out of luck anyway and is forced to park in the back. So the handicap parking even if put in the most positive light has only very limited use.

Laws are based on observable and tangible things. Property damage, murder, theft, etc. all cause observable physical damage or loss. Feelings are subjective and not tangible, and therefore should be left out of law. I will say that arguments could be made for severe psychological damage though.

Psychological damage could be something like someone raped you and so now you can't have sex, and you're losing sleep, and you can't hold down a job because of panic attacks. That's observable damage.
Having your feelings hurt doesn't necessarily damage how you're able to function in society. If I call a gay person a faggot it might hurt their feelings, but odds are they can still function okay.
