In the west coast, it may be hot as balls (100+F), but the humidity is usually between 10-40% so it's not that bad at all, and you just sweat the heat away.
In the Midwest, the temperature may SEEM mild (80-90F), but the humidity is always between 50-90%, so you're left sweaty and sticky all day long.
Also, in the southern east coast, it's 90-100+F AND 90% humidity all day. Just horrible.

For the west coast it depends on where you are. Sometimes you get lucky and it rarely hits 90 the whole summer long.
