another example of a pointless big budget hollywood reproduction of something that was better in its original form.
that being said, Anne Hathaway's performance in "Lovely Ladies" was heart wrenching,
and "Master of the House" with Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter as the inkeeper and his wife was rambunctious and wild fun, well worth suffering through Russell Crowe's rigid delivery and labored attempts to carrying a tune.
Hugh Jackman was pretty good as jean valjean. he could probably handle himself on stage.
