I assisted a campaign to get OSU to desegregate roommates by gender in 2005. There were only two or three accredited universities that did that, then. They finally gave the final approval to change in ~2008.

Oh, yeah, that’s the point. Same-gender roommates are the default, but you can opt-in to room with somebody of a different gender, if you are both okay it.
