I've heard from varioys sources chinese companies will hire "any white guy" to come to business meetings with investors. Apparently just to stand there and look white.
It adds to their legitimacy.
And by that i mean i heard that from a friend of the family who after college went off to Japan to be a businessman.
Also i heard it from a chinese importer who works with manufacturers directly, he said it happens all the time. Like actors for businesses.

My only real experience in China and that does not include trips for fun with GF's - The business stuff was 100% Cell phone communication stuff for Qualcomm and later Globalstar.
First I should splain ....Qualcomm is a terrific company and founders are all University Professors with EE degrees PhD of course. Two of them were my Uni Teachers in communications.
So when they founded Qualcomm the only employees available turned out to be anything other then wot people call white. Mostly Asian which is a term I wood never apply to say Pakistan or Indians but the rest of the world calls them Asians. Appeared to me in the many years at Qualcomm I was often the only White person in room of say 1500 people for a meeting but sure I met a few others like me on occasion.
SOOOOOOOOO When I ended up in China I often noted that more better people with that special experience such as C++ experts should be there rather then I, yet why was it for China only I ended up attending meetings I had no reason to attend?
There were tymes I had more important work to do for company and I wood send a Indian or Pakistan or even just once a Black engineer from Nigeria to the meeting in China. No one was about to tell me that was a mistrake but for sure they found ways to let me know there was a better way to handle the problem but alas no one wood ever dare say in email why or how lololol.
