Because 6 and 7 are inmates on death row. 7 is insane, and is having trouble adapting to the fact that he no longer has a name, and will soon be killed. He has been anally raping the more timid 6 every night for the last 3 days. 7 actually killed 4 people. 6 will be dying for a crime he didn't commit. 6 will now welcome death, because 7 has made his life unbearable. 6 would prefer death to continuing life with 7. That is why 6 is afraid of 7.
