Topic: Can we be expecting a Minichan iPhone app anytime soon?

Anonymous A started this discussion 14 years ago #24,457

I know it's a tired question, but why does Android get one and us iPhone users haven't?

Please, don't derail this thread with bickering about Android vs. iPhone – I'm just seeking an answer.

convince r04r to code one, or code it yourself.

oh I think the reason there isn't one is because there's a developer fee you need to get any app published on the apple app store but on androids you can circumvent that.

i dont think they make money of it; apple has a verification process and google play does not.
fun fact: microsoft charges $40k for an update to an xbox game!

I think any attempt at a Minichan iPhone app would be rejected by Apple's approval process.

1) Offensive content. The app would obviously load Minichan or link to Minichan or use the content from the site in some way, meaning it would be rejected for being full of cum filled throats and taste tests.

2) "Pointless" app. Apple wants apps to actually do something substantial and deemed useful by them. Apps that are just a website wrapped in an app are typically rejected.

Hmmm.

Well, it's not a major problem at all. The site's formatting on my iPhone is great. I was just curious.

Isn't there a thing on iPhone where you can create a shortcut to the home screen for a webpage?

You need an iPhone to test on, and you need a mac to develop on. There are no official development tools for windows/linux last time I checked.
You need to pay something like $80 yearly to appear in the app store.
We'd probably get rejected by the approval process anyway.
iDevice apps are programmed in Objective-C and from what I've seen that is one of the most obnoxious languages ever.

The API for the notifier is pretty much open, and even though there is no spec at the moment I'll gladly assist anyone who is interested in developing against it.

If the Android app is just the site wrapped in an app, then I suppose it would be pointless to even try to port it to the iPhone.

Android app?

It looks to me like it might be that or something that notifies you of new posts. I've not used it I'm not sure.

But either way, I would think something that sends you push notifications to inform you of the latest, fattest black cocks that have arrived in Matt Miller's cum filled throat would be deemed both offensive and pointless by them.

I vaguely remember there being an Android MC app that I think you did last year, but I can't find anything on it with search. Does it exist or am I in the early stages of dementia?

What's the point of having notifications like that?
