So, their vice is smoking. Nicotine is a drug. They are allowed to take frequent smoke breaks. Well, I am a drinker. It is my vice. Why can't I take drink breaks? While they stand around smoking, I could stand around drinking. Why not?

It makes the establishment look unprofessional, and makes you less efficient at work. The same could be said for nicotine, but to a much lesser degree.

For what? 20 seconds maximum? At any rate, anybody who smokes every few hours does not get dizzy from it. That only happens if you've gone for about 24 hours or more without a cigarette, or if you are not a habitual smoker.

I wasn't insulting you. I was insulting what you said. Nicotine does not have the same effect as alcohol intoxication does. The metabolism of smoking a cigarette is not the same as drinking a shot of ethanol. To equate the two is patently ridiculous.

3. There's a substantial difference between the slight cigarette intoxication and alcohol intoxication. Nobody breaks windows because they smoked a pack.
4. Smoke breaks are also on the way out, meaning any form of intoxication on the job is increasingly frowned upon.

Smokers become less efficient when they csnt smoke. The breaks actually lead to better efficiency.

As a smoker this is a ridiculous question. After eight hours without nicotine I become irritable and unfocused. My ability to perform my duty deteriorates. Whereas a drinker, though they may also become irritable, will only further deteriorate their ability to perform their duties by drinking.

Yeah, but that makes me vomit. Tried once, never again. Personally, I dont think you have to be a smoker to take "smoke" breaks. All employees should be entitled to a five minute break every 3-4 hours.
