I have Netflix and just recently subscribed to Hulu so I have both. Hulu has commercials but they're not the length of commercials you would see on TV. I'm really leaning towards Hulu because it has more content. Netflix has older movies and TV shows are always a couple of seasons behind. I don't mind the ads on Hulu because it's nice to have a break between shows.

I actually quite like both. I lean more toward Hulu at times, and am excited because they are getting a few shows I love in January. Netflix though just signed a few contracts, one being with Disney... soooo...

Yeah, but can you skip them on normal TV if you don't have DVR? I rather pay a few bucks for quality with a few ads to keep it cheap, rather than no ads and OMGWTF price and no ads. Thats why people were pissed at Netflix.

I'd rather pay more for no ads than pay less but get ads. They need to release a higher-tier program for Hulu, even if it costs 2-3 times more, just for no ads.

That might be an option, but you gotta think about it: It could make it worse for the subscribers now. What if they didn't have the money to upgrade and the only way to get certain episodes that were there before, you can only get on premium? They already have that with FOX for some reason, except you have to wait a week between new episodes of the Simpsons.

Dude, but what if they cut out some of the content for the normal accounts. That's not fair in their eyes or the majority of the users. Hulu was built on the fact some people cannot afford to have cable/are not always home to watch TV shows they love. So, they made mobile cable. Sure, the ads can get repeated, and a lot of the shows DON'T have more than one commercial. I for one respect Hulu for what they are doing. If you don't want commercials, rip the episodes from the internet for free, risk getting virus'/trogans/keyloggers, have possible poor quality or mis-named files. I rather know I am paying for a service, with a few annoying things, where I know I am getting what I ask for. If they had something like this for e-books (Kindle lending library does NOT count.) I would jump for it. I would deal with small ads every 3-4 chapters. Books do it now-a-days anyways.

Hulu is way better for TV shows and they have a lot of classic, foreign, and independent films if you're looking for less mainstream stuff, but Hulu has ads, and I think it's bullshit that you pay them $10/month and still have to watch ads. Netflix on the other hand is $8/month, has absolutely no advertising, and has a much better selection of movies, plus entire seasons of some TV shows. They reserve the best movies for disc-only though, but for just another $8/month you can get unlimited discs in the mail, while Hulu has no such option. An extra $2/month gets you access to Blu-ray. Amazon instant video is another good service. It's only $79/year and that gets you an Amazon Prime account that gets you free 2-day shipping on a lot of items and many other great perks if you're crazy about Amazon, but even with a Prime account, you still have to pay to stream a lot of their movies and TV shows (though often at discounted prices). Vudu is another interesting service. It doesn't cost anything per month but you have to pay for everything you watch. It's like PPV without cable. It's great as a last resort, like if you want to rent a movie but don't want to leave the house. Crackle is another one to look into. FYI, Vudu is owned by Walmart and Crackle is owned by Sony. I wanted to disclose that in case you have any ethical issues with either of those companies.
