Is a good guy with a gun.

What if the bad guy had no access to guns in the first place? He'd just be another asshole walking around.

The notion that criminals can be prevented from owning firearms relies on the assumption that criminals do not break the law.

He would just be wielding a knife or a baseball bat or something else.

By this logic literally all things should be legal because criminals don't obey laws anyway.

Hmm, it's way harder to get an RPG or a SAM, and criminals don't run around with those. If rifles and handguns were controlled like RPGs and SAMs then it would be hard for even criminals to get guns. If gun makers didn't flood the market with new guns, eventually all that would be left are old guns and aging guns.

If guns were no longer mass manufactured for commercial sale to civiliams, then guns would start to slowly disappear.

I think the argument that criminals will get guns anyway falls apart if no more guns are manufactured, and manufacturers will go bankrupt if civilian guns were outlawed.

Our supply of guns is endless, which is why demand will always be filled. Outlaw the manufacturing of guns, and eventually guns will disappear.

It's like speeding cars. If it was illegal to manufacture cars that can exceed the speed limit then speeding would be a crime of the past. But as long as supercars are legal to make and drive, people will drive 130mph if they can.

let's make everything illegal because criminals don't obey the law anyway.

your copypasta doesnt take into accoutn the black market created by the military, nor the fact that it is possible to clean and repair guns, thus extending their life significantly

Because they don't need RPGs to accomplish their tasks. They like damage control. If a criminal needed an RPG to do what they needed to do, then they would get RPGs on the black market, and they would do it easily. The only reason criminals don't carry around fully-automatic rifles is because the handguns they prefer or more concealable, and surprise surprise, a lot of criminals actually do have uzis and fully-automatic weapons. If fucking sand-niggers and Mexicans can get there hand on RPGs and full auto rifles, then American criminals can too. Mexicans are using ultra-light air crafts to smuggle drugs across the border, and you think laws are going to keep guns out of the hands of organized American criminals.
