Libertarianism is a very broad and open party. Libertarians have different opinions and ideas under the one simple belief that your government should have no say in your daily life and how you choose to live it. One can "use" libertarianism for self-indulgence just as someone could use the bullshit two-party system we have today. I fail to see how libertarianism promotes self-indulgence; please, explain your point to me further?

Many libertarians believe in privately funded police forces where poor people cannot have crimes against them investigated.

The problem with private police forces would be that they'd spend all goddamn day patrolling the highway, without any desire to stop dangerous crimes. Think of every problem you have with today's cops, and multiply it by a thousand.

Some libertarians believe in this. But the majority notion is that one of the government's only role/purpose is to protect its citizens. Privatized police forces are irrelevant...

How are they irrelevant? When the police force protects citizens, they deny the rights of others. So this is directly connected.

See, i like to do my own thing. If what i'm doing is wrong, well that's not for me to decide. I just do what i do figure it'll all get sorted out.

It's irrelevant because why the fuck would we ever have said police force when we already have a government police force?

We wouldnt have a governmental police force. Libertarians want the government to stay out of everyone business.

Except for protecting its people. That's the government's role according to idealist libertarians. There would still be a police force.~

That's just MM's silly interpretation or him parroting Ron Paul's views. Actual libertarians seem to want a truly hands-off government. For instance, the Libertarian Party's platform specifically mentions keeping government out of the issue.

By protecting people, they also infringe on the rights of others.

They also dont like paying taxes, which is what funds a governmental police force.
