So I got a Kindle (the basic $69 one) and I was wondering where I can obtain free ebooks for it. I've tried The Pirate Bay and they don't have a lot of the books I want; they mainly just have popular stuff like Harry Potter or The Hunger Games.
Is there something like a Pirate Bay but focused mainly on books?

#bookz on undernet used to be the place, but I'm not sure if it still is. There are a couple of torrent sites focused on books: theebooksbay.com, ebookee.org, ebookshare.net, etc. but I haven't used them enough to be able to recommend them. The popular stuff should be readily available via major torrent sites, no?

what books are you looking for?

As an example, I'm interested in the biography of Oleg Kalugin, who was a KGB agent for 30 years. None of the popular torrent sites have it. The popular stuff is available via major torrent sites, which is great up until you want something obscure.

You can find Spymaster: My Thirty-two Years in Intelligence and Espionage Against the West in this collection. I just downloaded it and am looking through the pdf now.

I know but do they seriously expect me to pay $10+ for some digital bits for my e-reader? Half the pirated books on my Kindle are ones I already owned in paper format, one fourth are ones not available in the Kindle store, and the last fourth are books I could have bought but was too poor to.
