Topic: Need a good rootkit remover

derpy !hoovesEJmo started this discussion 14 years ago #24,218

We got a new modem and my laptop isn't connecting well to it. I have tried:

DNS Flush
Turning Wifi on and Off
Rebooting

Now, the modem works with everything else, wired and wirelessly.

Any other suggestions?

Is it plugged in? If so, have you tried turning it off and on again?

Okay, here is the problem:

It says I am connected, and sometimes lets me talk through IM, but will not load a webpage for atleast 10 minutes. Then it's fine. Everything else (PS3, two android phones, kindle fire, Toshiba Thrive) works perfectly fine wirelessly/wired.

We tried everything in the @OP . So, I am stumped now. I am on Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1. 64 Bit edition. Any help is welcome.

This happens with both wired and WiFi or just WiFi? What signal strength are you showing for the WiFi? Have you tried looking at the network traffic to and from that computer with another computer on the network? Also, have you tried installing gentoo?
