Have you tried applying for a basic server position or a temp job? The problem is also, many places fear you'll just up and leave after you find a better job.
You may also have to move to find gainful employment with a Master's, especially in something like Linguistics. Maybe Baton Rouge or NO?

I have. I have applied to every school and university in a 100 mile radius. With universities, the one and only way to find employment is the Chronicle of Higher Education, and it currently has no listings in Louisiana.

The whole concept of “welfare” is much different than you think. OP won’t get any unemployment since, well… he never paid into an unemployment fund (and he hasn’t been fired). He cannot apply for housing assistance because he lives with his parents. He may be able to get food stamps, but not much — after all, having almost no expenses means that almost all of his meager paycheck is disposable income.
