I don't know I'm more about emotion than a physical. If I have a girlfriend who makes out with a stranger at a party then I'm annoyed, but not furious. If girlfriend expresses romantic love for another person, then I get upset. I don't know if that's reasonable, but it's how I am.

I think it's really about circumstance, and the expectations of your partner. In most cases I think making out would be cheating, but maybe not all the time. I'd say it's cheating but forgivable cheating.

Was Married and as I just said in my reply I also had a Married GF on the side. So clearly sex was part of the bargain. Now many years later somewhat costly as a Daughter was the result of the affair.

@previous (F)Ah English as in England. I have told this story over many a year on the web. Currently you can find people who said they Dox' me on this and they sure have fucked it up. Or they really know the truth and find it more convenient to fudge the facts.
1: Married to a Lovely gal who also was of Jealous personality. Really that was the only negative issue in a long term marriage. So one day after having been accused of a crime a few times, I decided to commit the crime. I said ok I will have an affair. Two weeks later and the deal was sealed. Also fell in love with Gal #2 who was Married and wanted a child. Turns out Husband was shooting blanks.
2: Condoms are not all they should be. Trojan in fact. So a Daughter was/is the result. My wife never knew although she had suspicions after receiving the birth notice with photos. My wife knew the Gal and even invited her over for dinner when her husband was out of town on business.
So the Husband and daughter have no clue and even the most simple of blood tests make it impossible for him to be the Biological Dad.
Many years later just before she graduated from high school, her mother called me to say Hey how you doing and your Daughter could use some help re University of California, Berkeley Pre Med 6 year program.
6 years because that is what it takes to get into Harvard Medical School. Long story but she could not qualify for scholarship - to much family money that ended up in Bankrupt court case.
So I was thrilled to take over and my bank set up a foundation to fund the 6 years. Then Harvard said Yes and she chose the 5 year MD program that turned into 6.
A House and Car and I work my ass off to cover the sudden need for massive cash cause HARVARD makes sure no student drops out after acceptance. 100% of all money up front for all years!!
So one day if the other guy kicks the bucket then yes I can step in and say hey guess what? But not till then. Would mess up the other family. This by the way is a painful situation for me.

I always thought of kissing as very close to heavy flirting. I guess I had made a distinction between sexual stuff and everything else for my own benefit, not that I ran around making out with a bunch of chicks. Yes. Someone accused my girlfriend of doing this with someone, and then said it wasn't a sexual relationship. It wasn't true, but making out is more than kissing, it has a sexual element to it, so its cheating.
