This person thinks it's a work of cinematic genius.Is it worth seeing?

I wouldn't say genius. But it's a fun ride. Over the top special effects, bad ass aliens, decent story. After 10 minutes i was hooked, right about the time he tries to walk on Mars for the first time. The aliens really sold me though, the have a great nickname for John Carter, i won't spoil it.
It's worth watching, but if you're a scifi buff it's a must see. The original book, A princess of mars, was penned by the author of Tarzan. He used a pen name because, at the time, he was afraid his contemporaries would think he was nuts.
