I started going to the gym this week. I got an instructor to make me a routine (lots of weight training, some cardio and other shit), there are exercises for my entire body. I will be going there and completing my routine 3-4 times a week. 45 minutes after the workout, I drink whey protein (it contains 20 grams of pure protein total) and eat a banana (high glycemic carb).
So far as my diet, I will increase my protein intake (and lower my fat intake) as best I can. I will also take a 30-60 minute walk every day.
Is this enough to significantly increase my strength and muscle mass/definition, bearing in mind that I am currently getting no regular exercise? Are there any changes I can make to improve results?

Drink skim milk. Buy those EAS shakes they have like 17g of protein per shake and are not too bad in flavor. Sounds like you are doing the right stuff. Oh yeah get a bottle of centrum multi vitamin, vitamin c 1000mg, and super b-12 complex. Those three will cost less than the vitamins you will find at gnc. Take those three vitamins every morning.

I'm confident that the exercises are sufficient. (I trust my trainer more than advice from the internet.) I am just asking for help with nutrition here.

Hmmm... I read that there is a 1-2 hour window of opportunity (the length of which depends on metabolism speed and body weight) after a workout session where protein should be consumed while the muscles are recovering. I haven't ever read that protein during a workout session is beneficial.

Oh, I see your situation clearly now.
What is your goal body?
Like on the left, leaner or bigger?
Casein which is contained in cottage cheese will help your body regenerate while you sleep.

@43,965 (A)
Lol. Trainers are notorious for being terrible.
What does he have you doing? Are you using machines for weight training or free weights?
Because machines are shit. If you are squatting on a smith machine, you are doing it wrong as well.
Also, you don't want to wait 45 minutes to have your protein shake. You want to saturate those muskles ASAP.
Can you give details on your fitness level and what you are doing for strength training (your actual routine)? Cardio doesn't matter cause any is fine if you do it consistantly.

I wonder if he is the person who hurt their arm. I think so.
