I tried making sugar "wine" out of baker's yeast, water, and sugar. It did have some alcohol (idk how much, I want to say somewhere between 5-10% based on smell) but it tasted and smelled like rotten ass so I threw it out and bought some real alcohol.

Maybe get your son some cheap box wine?
