The guy is an idiot. 3 Israelis were killed 2 days before he uploaded the video. Something like 800 rockets have been fired into Israel so far this year by Palestinians, and he somehow thinks that Israel is the only one using violence to try to get its point across. Also I think it's kind of telling that he referred to what Israel was doing as "genocide", when both the West Bank and Gaza Strip are experiencing population growth and have been for a while. It takes real balls to falsely accuse a state of committing genocide when it was established for genocide survivors. That's one time you might actually want to make sure what you're saying is actually, you know, true.

That being said, I think what Israel is doing is foolish. It fought a similar war in 2008 and nothing of real substance was accomplished. I see it as more of a political war than anything else. Netanyahu is trying to rally up enough support to stay in office and fringe groups in Gaza are trying to establish their legitimacy or at least undermine Hamas' by provoking an Israeli invasion. I don't know how it's going to play out, but I expect something like a repeat of 2008 where not much happens in terms of working towards a peace deal but everyone is scared and angry for a while and then it goes onto the back burner again so we can focus on the important issues like Lindsay Lohan drunk driving or some trivial meaningless bullshit.

And of course he had to accuse the U.S. of being imperialist (after getting really angry about banks and dumb shit) but the U.S.'s "imperialist" ventures were extremely muted when compared to what the U.K., France, Spain, Germany, Holland, Portugal, Japan etc. did. On the scale of horrible things done in the name of imperialism, the U.S. ranks probably last. But hey the U.S. is big and powerful and we like to wave our dick around a lot so people will launch baseless criticism to make themselves feel better(which is a shame because there is a lot of well-founded criticism you could offer).

AND THEN (because he never runs out of insightful things to say) he bitches about nameless mysterious classified CIA agents in Syria. Which is fine and all as a conspiracy theory, but why not bitch about actual things that happened. Like CIA overthrow of democratically elected governments in Nicaragua or the 1954 coup in Guatemala, or the CIA's turning over of Nelson Mandela to the apartheid government, or the blind eye turned towards the genocide in Rwanda and Darfur and Uganda or the internment of Japanese-Americans in World War II or any other gross violation of rights the U.S. government engaged in. But no, that's not good enough. Let's just make shit up because hey it's easier than actually being informed about things!

tl;dr angry british guy yells at a camera like a moron for 5 minutes and has no clue what he's talking about

I skipped around a lot in it because watching it for more than a few seconds at a time almost gave me an aneurysm so I'm sure I missed a lot of other retarded shit he said.

Israel is definitely using excessive force, but the country has a right to defend itself against terrorist groups like Hamas. In an area of land as dense as Gaza there inevitably will be civilian casualties, especially when you consider Hamas intentionally erect rocket-firing posts close to civilian areas. Unlike Hamas, Israel do not intentionally target civilians.

Still, it sucks for those on both sides who just want to live in peace, as well as the children who have absolutely nothing to do with the conflict. I can't help but be reminded of the Troubles of Ireland.

> The guy is an idiot. 3 Israelis

Israel is firing hundreds upon hundreds of rockets into the most densely populated city on the planet. Back in 2008 13 Israelis were killed, for that around 1,000 Palestinians died. Israel has killed almost 7,000 Palestinians since the year 2000. It's extremely hard to not have any sympathy for the Palestinians if you look at the way they are treated. How could anyone expect Palestinians to not retaliate? Back the 70's Israel was lining these people up and executing them outside their homes...

Both sides have done a lot of bad shit, but it seems unfair to give Israel a pass when they are the occupying people. The Palestinians have a right to be pissed off. It's just a shitty deal all around really. If it were anyone but Christian Jews doing this I suspect the situation would be viewed a lot differently. :/

Move back a few years. Those communities that supported Hitler. Multiple attacks by the opposing sides to firebomb and drive them to their knees.

It takes two to Tango. If one of the two craps on the dance floor, only choice is to eliminate the offender.

Fire bomb them and send them packing. OR they have one choice. Occupied can round up all Hamas and hang them on crosses. Then Israel will treat next door neighbors with respect.

They really do. I'm reluctant to say the Palestinians don't have a right to attack. Honestly, do people being occupied not have the basic right to attack? If any nation were occupying America I'd wager most people would feel differently about the right to attack an occupying force. Objectively it's very hard to side with Israel. Can you really call it defense if you run over to your neighbors house and start taking their shit, then they fight back??

I try to be open minded and such, but it just doesn't seem like Israel is doing right by the Palestinians. If people were rounding Jews up into ghettos would the world sit back and watch? They didn't before...

At what point does the occupier of a piece of land become its rightful owner?

Surely if you sympathise with them you'd desperately want them to stop attacking Israel, knowing the inevitable outcome? As hard as it is to say, at some point they're just going to have to accept the land is no longer theirs, put the past behind them and try to work out a solution with Israel which satisfies both parties. I just don't see that happening, because Palestinians believe the land to be theirs and asking them to just forget about it is understandably very difficult. Until then it'll be a giant circle of Hamas attacking, Israel retaliating, Hamas attacking, Israel retaliating, Hamas attacking, Israel retaliating, Hamas attacking, Israel retaliating, Hamas attacking, Israel retaliating, Hamas attacking, Israel retaliating, Hamas attacking, Israel retaliating, Hamas attacking, Israel retaliating, Hamas attacking, Israel retaliating, Hamas attacking, Israel retaliating, Hamas attacking, Israel retaliating, Hamas attacking, Israel retaliating, Hamas attacking, Israel retaliating, Hamas attacking, Israel retaliating, Hamas attacking, Israel retaliating, Hamas attacking, Israel retaliating, Hamas attacking, Israel retaliating, Hamas attacking, Israel retaliating, Hamas attacking, Israel retaliating, Hamas attacking, Israel retaliating, Hamas attacking, Israel retaliating, Hamas attacking, Israel retaliating, Hamas attacking, Israel retaliating, Hamas attacking, Israel retaliating, Hamas attacking, Israel retaliating, Hamas attacking, Israel retaliating, Hamas attacking, Israel retaliating and so on until one side is destroyed utterly.

But if I were to go to LA or WDC or places with Ghettos occupied by the Bloods and Crips gangs (NOT SO WONDERFUL PEOPLE)

As to who the land belongs to? USA land was once American Indian. Rounded up and moved off to shit hole places no one else wanted to live in.

A Lot of British land was once the Provence of France and Germany. Now Occupied by Brits.

Its a tough cold hard world on Planet Earth and who/whom owns what depends on who/whom has the biggest Penis aka Guns. Hamas can claim Palestinian land as theirs or any land they want to claim, and if they have the bigger Penis/Guns then all they have to do is pull down pants and ram it to Israel or bend over and take it hard in butt.

This is when peace will be 'achieved'. :/

It really doesn't seem like there is any other path to peace. Western nations are supporting the aggressors and I find it hard to believe we'd do the same for anybody but the Jews. On the other hand, the Jews as a people are pretty okay. Unwavering support of the Jews in this situation seems to be a dangerous proposition, support should be tentative. There are millions of Palestinian lives at stake, and whether we like their culture and beliefs or not, they're just people.

I'm not sure how effective whittling away at a growing population of Palestinians is supposed to work. When is the tipping point? What is end game?

America will likely go to war with Iran in the next few years over nuclear threats against Israel. This whole situation is shitty as fuck. Thanks a lot Jews! Rock and a hard place...

I can't even begin to understand how the Palestinians must feel, but by electing and supporting Hamas, a group which loves to quote Qur'an passages about slaughtering Jews, they're not helping themselves. It's got to the point where even the Arab neighbours don't want anything to do with them, even if they do, like Egypt, publically pretend they're on side.

Both sides have done awful things, but right now Hamas is in a position to stop the fighting. Israel only launched this attack on Gaza because of Hamas' rockets.

Exactly

Last few years I have moved from investing in stock market (because I was no longer any good at it) to Real Estate ( houses to buy and rent out ) hated it just hated RE but needed source of extra income.

And isn't it as simple as who owns the land? Who has the deeds to Israel? Palestinian ? Sure another country drew up the boundaries on a map and created Israel after WWII. A very big country with big guns to back them up.

Usually it don't work that way. Hamas if it has the balls to win, as well as allies and resources and smarts cause it does take smarts to be the bigger better powerHouse - If they have it then let them take over Israel and own it. OR Let Israel take over the land, because they can.

I am only simi serious here but frankly after a few years of basic history of Planet Earth, since when has it been any other way?

One thing is for certain. NO ONE HERE WOULD STAND FOR A NEIGHBOR Firing rockets into their back yard - NOT A Single person here would stand for it.

I used to build Bombs n Rockets as a Kiddlet. If a neighbor fired into my home you can be sure if Cops ain't going to stop it in Milliseconds - I remember how to make Nitroglycerin. Its damn easy but of course you have to go about it careful most careful.

After all it was only a few hundreds years ago their land was taken. Or the same situation, but with Maoris in New Zealand? Or Irish in Northern Ireland? Or the Aboriginals of Australia?

Practically, how long should the invader expect to wait until it is acceptable to call the land their own? How long will it be for Israel?

At the same time we're gonna put on our 'fuck yeah America' hats and fuck up Iran for Israel. It seems extremely likely that will happen. Part of my semi serious on how I put the who owns what into context has a couple of holes in it.

For instance: Starting a War such as Iraq. No plans to grab land and not even the Oil inside the land. That made no fucking sense at all. Some say it was started because of bad intelligence re WMD's that did not exist. Some say it was George Jr revenge for what George Sr dealt with. Just a ton of money and lives fucked up.

Another is Afghanistan. One of my prior work ventures doing "Q" work n eye don't mean Qualcomm I mean James Bond type "Q" work. Was a big part of a team run by a terrific Republican Congressman Charley Wilson and his GIRLFRIENDS 2 fyne ladies, one of which got the Saudis to cover dollar for dollar what we could dig up and then 2 dollars for each dollar Charley coned out of USA.

One decade of my life and considering I am 1/2 Russian - I helped kick the Russkies out of Afghanistan. We made super friends with Mujhadeen, Taliban & Pastoons. Loved by all. Then when Russkies turned tail and ran after a full decade WE were ordered to leave by USA ASAP. We left with tons of the best electronics and weapons and Stinger Missile's and Bin Laden walked on in and took all of it over.

Worse yet, those friends we made, turned against us because we made so many promises about what we would do to help them post war. USA left them hanging and we continue to pay the price now.

Rant over @367,550 (I)

> They think that its okay when righteous Jews hurt dirty Muslims.

Jews Christians Muslims righteous or not really does not enter the equation of who wins. History books tell us its who has the best army weapons smarts. Right or Wrong the bigger better equipped guy wins every time.

Hi. Unfortunately I don't have a really informed opinion about this because it's such a confusing situation. Some Palestinians have been shooting rockets into Israel (especially southern Israel) every week, several times per week, for many years now. The Israelis tried this invasion (assuming they decide to go ahead and invade) once before 4 years ago and essentially nothing happened as a result. I agree with @367,396 (C) in that what we're seeing is probably just a rehashing of the same conflict from 2008 with the same expected outcome: lots of dead civilians on both sides and neither party is more willing to compromise. This will not push the region into chaos and civil war, at least not any more than it already is. Ultimately I think this will be of minor significance and no one's mind will be changed. Pro-Israel people will view this as justified self-defense and Pro-Palestinian people will see it as yet another act of unjustified Israeli aggression. Anyone trying to paint it as more severe than that is just sensationalizing. It's not "genocide" and it's not a holy quest to bring terrorists to justice. It's something in-between that leaves both sides with a lot more innocent blood on their hands than they already have. If I had an alternative take or solution to this problem, I'd go ahead and claim my Nobel Peace Prize, but since I'm just an average guy that isn't happening.

I think it's shows a lot of character that you're able to remain basically neutral about the situation. The whole thing is too fucked to 'pick a side', it's just not that simple. I know the guy over-dramatized the current situation, but it's understandable that what's going on could invoke a lot emotions in people.

In your opinion what is end-game in Israel? Obviously the Israelis have all the advantage there, so what becomes of the Palestinians? It's not like they're just gonna disappear...

Ludwig Wittgenstein once wrote "Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent". I try to adopt that as a general working principle. If I don't know a lot about a subject, I either don't say anything or make very modest and uncontroversial claims.

End-game in Israel is a peace treaty. American support for Israel is incredibly strong and so long as America supports Israel, it's going to continue to exist. I think all fair-minded parties agree to that. The problem is, what are the terms of the agreement, and can we be sure that both parties will uphold their end of the deal? Neither one of those things seems to be agreed upon, though I think a two-state solution is inevitable. Obama supports a return to the pre-1967 borders but Netanyahu doesn't like that. If Obama and Netanyahu can't agree, then no peace deal gets accomplished, and unfortunately I don't see either side budging any time soon. With the Israeli election coming up, I think it will be interesting to see how the political makeup of the Israeli government changes, and there definitely won't be any long-term deal with the Palestinians until after the election. I am not hopeful for any peace treaty within the next 10 years though.
