If I get it, I'll make 500+ dollars a week, which will be plenty for me, I'll be able to move out, pay off debts, including car payments. I'll be able to afford to go places, and do things without scrounging up loose change.
Right now I'm constantly under the thumb of my parents who take basic things like car, and phone away from me on a whim. I'm getting too old to have to answer to mommy, and daddy. I don't have money to go places, or do things, I'm constantly borrowing money, or just disappointing people.
I have an ex girlfriend that still hasn't decided whether or not she's still interested in me, which sucks for me because I'm in love with her, and I'll wait for her for as long as she wants. I cry myself to sleep thinking about her, I wish I didn't.
Tl;dr If I get this job my parents will stop fucking with me, I won't be such a huge disappointment, and maybe my ex will think I'm worthwhile again, and more importantly, maybe I'll think I'm worthwhile again.

She never indicated that she was dating me because of my money, but if she does come back, I hope she does it before I start having a lot of spending cash because if she wants back in my world once there's money for me to spend on her, I'll always be wary that that was the reason she came back.

That's self contained though, it isn't really affecting my life, or anyone else's by me doing that. Now if I would have said "I'm so depressed, I'm just going to lay down, and not do anything" then I'd understand the beta comment. But I'm actually taking action, which I think is alpha in nature. Yeah I'm a crybaby, but I ultimately get shit done.

leasing agent, the lady who's hiring has this thing where she likes to hire people without a lot of qualifications because they're easier to train. It's a weird philosophy, but hopefully I'll prosper because of it. Believe it or not, in real life I can be rather charismatic.

As long as a reaction to something is self contained I don't see how it can be deemed appropriate/inappropriate. Maybe you'd react differently, but that doesn't make your reaction superior.
