Depending where I lived I would have voted for either Gary Johnson or Romney, but if I was in a Romney state I wouldn't be that bothered. If I was busy or tired I probably wouldn't bother.

Which candidates?

Anonymous E replied with this 14 years ago, 3 hours later, 1 day after the original post[^] [v] #365,128

@previous (buspup !!x+kkCmnF4)
The ones running in my electorate. We don't vote for the PM directly. The party (or coalition) that has the most seats forms a government, and their leader becomes the PM.

So which candidates did you vote for, and why?

Anonymous E replied with this 14 years ago, 21 minutes later, 1 day after the original post[^] [v] #365,195

@previous (G)
Probably Liberal Party. I don't think any good smaller parties were running.

I don't recall if any good candidates ran in my electorate, if they did I voted for them. If no one else ran except for major parties, I would have voted Liberal. We don't have the equivalent of a presidential election or gubernatorial elections so these are particularly interesting to us. Our head of state is Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, represented in Australia by Governors-General appointed by Her Majesty. Prime Ministers and Premiers are selected by the majority party, not by voters.
