Topic: the upcoming dual-executions of Ramon Torres Hernandez and Preston Hughes III

that's right, next week we've got back to back executions. First up on the 14th we got Ramon Torres Hernandez
On 03/31/2002, in San Antonio, Texas, Hernandez and 2 co-defendants abducted, robbed, sexually assaulted, and murdered a 37-year old Hispanic female, later transporting her body to a wooded area and burying her in a shallow grave. Hernandez asked one co-defendant to purchase the shovel used to dig the grave while the victim was still alive and being assaulted.
he had priors involving burglary and rape!
Next up is Preston Hughes III scheduled for the 15th.
He raped and killed a 15 year old girl and stabbed a 3 year old till it died.
which brutal raping murderer should win their appeal?
don't execute either. (this option makes no difference)

i'm not likely to donate to a charity or support an organization, but i'll argue about the death penalty in Texas on the internet.

there's no justification for it. it's unethical and morally wrong.
it's more expensive, it causes more people to suffer, it contributes nothing to society.

I have no moral qualms with the death penalty, I just think the way we go about it in the US is flawed. We spend way too much money on lawyers, appeals etc. It costs us more money to kill people than it does to keep them in prison for life.
I believe that if the death penalty is administered, the convicted should be executed within the week. Killing those detrimental to society makes sense, making those people wait years to die, and spending ridiculous amounts of money on them does not.

It should cost money. I'm not opposed to the death penalty but it's pretty final when administered. I'd feel better about it if I knew there was no way to execute an innocent person. For instance, Damien Echols spent 18 years on death row for a crime he didn't commit. I would hate to find myself in a position where my life could be ended for a crime I didn't commit.

Okay, so that's why'd you cut out the wait time. It would cut cost, and cut the time the convicted have to suffer. Everyone wins.

In Britain, you were taken out the back door of your cell and hanged that next Tuesday. I hate to think how many innocents have been killed as a result of this.

My eyes are so burned out from 3 screens running after Market after hours stock trades and Three Sun Solaris work stations running Satellite stuff so I Obviously did not read all the way to the bottom of buried text and failed.
Thank you and now my vote is in.

Earlier you said that you have been in favour of the death penalty since 1994.

Not I
I have always been in favor of the death penalty and voted to keep it Nov6 and enough agreed with me.
I did vote to modify 3 strikes law. Perhaps you are referring to my change of mind on Abortion? I was never against a woman making that decision, but for me I was against it IF it were up to me.
That changed over a period of a few weeks. (Almost a non intended pun in there)
