This measure is not the campaign finance reform measure its proponents say it is. Proposition 32 promises “political reform” but is really designed by special interests to help themselves and harm their opponents. It looks like a campaign finance reform measure but unfairly targets one set of large campaign donors while giving other donors unlimited power. Its ban on payroll deductions for political giving will affect unions but not corporations, and even the restriction it places on contributions to candidates by corporations is full of loophole exemptions. It does not fix the problem of money in politics; Super PACs and independent expenditure committees will continue to spend without limitation.

This measure prohibits both unions and corporations from using payroll-deducted funds for political purposes—so-called “paycheck protection”—which sounds balanced. But almost no corporations use payroll-deducted funds for political giving; so this prohibition is really aimed just at the unions. That's not a fair or balanced approach to reform.

Corporations could still use corporate funds for allowed political activities without permission from individual stockholders to do so. In addition, corporate executives can personally fund political campaigns that benefit their corporations; Proposition 33 on this ballot is an example of this.

Prop 32’s restrictions on corporations do not apply to large numbers of business entities, including limited liability companies, limited partnerships, real estate investment trusts, and sole proprietorships.

Prop 32 prohibits corporations and unions from making direct contributions to candidates but does not prohibit them from contributing funds to ballot measure committees.

Despite its claims, Prop 32 will not take money out of politics, because it exempts Super PACs and independent expenditure committees from its provisions. The Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision allows these groups to spend unlimited amounts of money. They have already spent more than $95 million in California elections since 2004. Prop 32 does nothing to deal with that.

Some may say, “This is unbalanced, but it's a step forward.” However, the sponsors of Prop 32 are trying to use our anger and mistrust about what is happening in Sacramento to change the rules for their own benefit. Restricting just unions and their workers will result in a political system that favors corporate special interests over everyone else. Prop 32 was intentionally designed to do that.

If campaign finance reform is to pass, it must be a fair and even-handed effort to close loopholes in the law, rather than a purely partisan effort to eviscerate political opponents. All money in politics must be affected equally."

Is tricky. USA laws get in my way about........IF Its not already listed in a company's 10K report to potential investors and I say something re a client - Because I am billing the clients, I could end up in deeeep Federal dooo dooo.

I can make general statements such as Land lines built rock solid strong and loaded with back up to prevent being wiped out in disasters. So people who use Cell systems of all kinds and some are much safer then others re power outages and floods - Cable systems started out build super dirt cheep with crap. Now with the fiber systems they are much better but nothing of the class of land line systems.

So naming who is better then the other? All the majors are clients of mine. Many really class act technology but NOT designed all that well for emergencies.

Work day/night done at PST 1:30 AM and then I get to drink = Under contact what I can drink is very limited until work is done OR as long as I am not doing Satellite stuff then I have no written limits.

Rambling as I wait for a Satellite to pass over a Dubbo Australia command/control station so I can see if hours of work has paid off.

ah had to read my post twice to find it. YES YES. One I brought back to life is also one I gave birth to back in 1999 and until this moment I forgot that the birth was over my head in Dubbo Australia. Only designed to last 7.5 years and many lasted longer and a few not so long and many would have lasted much longer except for wot I think is a nasty cosmic blasting of a component.

There is a rush to refuel generators to keep alive cell sites. Logistics of moving fuel in New York city is all over the news. Even finding diesel seems to be not so easy at moment. So FEMA and others are burning up lots of hours of Satellite time and they could do so for free but will pay.

I watched some documentary the other year examining what would happen if all un-extracted oil suddenly disappeared. National Geographic. They predict there would be a very rough time for a few decades and then it would eventually balance out. Some people would have electric cars but they are super expensive so not many do. Much like the state of original car manufacturing before Ford's T.

Current state of disaster in New York may get people to re think dependency on technology. After a monster of an Earthquake in Los Angeles, Freeways pancaked and full cities were mostly destroyed, just about everyone stuck Earthquake kits in car trunks and other places. I have several - Tents sleeping bags extra clothes cans of food and a stove flashlights etc. I should re think the problem of how to charge cell phones other then with just a car. Is there a product that will result just for that?

I will buy the solar cells for at least one phone. I admit I hardly think about this stuff except when the news hits as it has with current events. I honestly believe my home will end up on Ocean floor one day.

Out of Earthquake zone? I am on top of a bluff and back yard is at the edge of that bluff.
