Honestly I am not a regular pot smoker. Just a rare treat even though around my town people grow it in back yards and will hand you a sack for just a handshake or beer or smile.
My trips and they have been many to Amsterdam - by plane and that super train from Frankfurt Germany to Amsterdam - Ya even get to see a Windmill! Each time I go I do wander into a special coffee shop and enjoy what they offer but always ask for something on the mild side. Netherlands has a reputation for solving a problem every other butthurt country has. Tolerance in many forms.

Tourists can continue to use Amsterdam’s 220 cannabis cafes, even if they are not resident in the Netherlands, the Volkskrant quotes the capital’s mayor Eberhard van der Laan as saying on Thursday.
The new cabinet is pressing ahead with banning non-residents from the country's cannabis cafes,
but says enforcing the ban will be carried out together with local councils, taking local policy into account.
I may be Dyslexic but the way I read that - It tells me some over all governing body says NO NO, but says YES YES if local Mayor says Yes.
In other words as long as that Mayor is in orifice, smoking by tourists is kool.(Edited 35 seconds later.)
