yes. absolutely. if a weapon is legal, you should own it. i would get one but i've already got a compound bow. it needs to be restrung, i haven't used it years. got it when i was a kid.

And when i get home i'll do a slightly more through search and look for a preban AK47 and post links where it may be obtained. We'll get to the bottom of this whole ak47 thing.

AK47 was designed in 1947. Ban went into effect in the early 1920s. When you see preban AK47 that refers to a preban magazine which is meaningless since the.ban expired. It is also not an AK, but an SK, (automatic vs. Semiautomatic) but advertisers are idiots.
There are a very small number of automatic weapons you can own. Most tommy guns are illegal for civilian ownership. If it is old enough you can get your tax stamp. Otherwise you need government permission which is all but impossible for an individual to get, or deal firearms to cops and military, or be a licensed gun range with the right licenses.

alright, i've spent about 10 minutes googling around about it and have come up with a thread that supports everything that i have said. I see no reason to take my investigations any further than this. here are the highlights:

If you are not, then you can still buy a "preban" but it will be very expensive. The AK would be legal for you to own..with the approved Form 4...
