It's kind of like the SAT for graduate school. Anyway, they tend to throw combinatorics questions like that at you on the quantitative reasoning section. The questions don't really require any difficult math, but taking the time to make sure you understand what the question is asking and then finding (and checking) the answer really sucks during a timed exam. Some friends and I had a running joke that the test authors should make all such questions about group sex in order to make the test more fun and engaging.
