On trips to Botswana I tried it. Made from local game. I do not care for meat soaked in vinegar. So some versions that had less were ok.

What game was it? Springbok? The shop I use sells venison biltong and droewors, I am considering buying some the next time I get the money because I have never had venison before

Antelope - Rhino (also had Rhino steaks in Los Angeles) Wildebeest and some kind of Buffalo. I had a lot of stews made with mixed meats and usually did not ask to many questions. Was there for work a number of times and invited to homes of locals who could only draw on paper what the animal looked like. Stews were very good. Veggies had roots in them similar to turnips -
