My bowels stopped. The rumbling was a bunch of gas. That's decent progress, though.
I just gave myself a third mineral oil enema and I'm lying down. I almost feel nauseous—which is a bad compliment to appendicitis—but I'm not sure if it's just anxiety.
I'm going to drink more water and continue relaxing. If there's no progress within another two hours, I might just go to the ER.

A high pressure system passed through this morning and my bowels were pleased by the relief.
It's actually really hard to fart, as I haven't regained control over some critical pelvic muscles. I just have to lay still and let the gasses move. If I'm too eager, the gas just hides back in my intestines and hurts. Pooping is equally difficult, as trying to control the muscles in a balanced manner that doesn't hurt me requires a lot of mental energy.

It's calming. I have one less thing to worry about, and this was pretty significant. The surgery didn't bother me, but the inability to poop had me so anxious. I was getting a bit tired of being in the hospital, and the first taste of fresh air after discharge was amazing.
I'll bet your work is a constant reminder of why good health is important. It's probably an even bigger statement on family, though. Hearing my Grandpa's voice on the phone after surgery was so calming.

Test Driven Development is a workflow that provides automated means to confirm software behavior. It allows software development to proceed at a faster rate, with more contributors, and with fewer bugs than without tests.
My perspective on this is high-level, interpreted languages with objects and dynamic typing. I'm talking about Ruby, but TDD is also common in C and Java.
Unit tests are written to ensure the classes and methods have attributes and methods that return expected values and types.
Functional tests are written to ensure that methods and attributes behave as expected with or without the presence of various unit features.
Integration tests are written to ensure business logic is correctly codified so the various classes integrate together and that calling interfaces results in expected outcomes.

So it turns out my appendix duct had become blocked in the summer, the appendix filled with fluid, and then its walls were perforating throughout October. Many people die from this.
My healthy digestive tract and immune system prevented infection and walled off the appendix. The inflammatory response from walling off the appendix leaks ended up attaching tissues to my intestines. When the surgeon attempted to separate my appendix, my intestines started to tear.
In total, only 6.5 inches of intestine was removed.
