ok, this guy is scheduled for next wednesday. i'm sorry these threads aren't living up to your expectations, but fucking liberal hippy activast lawyer judges have to go politic'in' around because they know that, "Perry ain't gonna do nothin' about it." fuckin' homos.so, anyway, what this guy did was he broke into this apartment in north Dallas (up by the little airport) and he stabbed a 26 year old woman repeatedly with an icepick and then strangled her to death with a cord. he stole 4 packs of cigarettes, some change (the ashtray it was in), and a small gold charm necklace.
his appeal was already shot down, he's good to go.
maybe—Maybe—this time next week he'll be dust in an urn.

There are more procedural protections, from the time typically spent on a capital trial, to the amount allocated for public defenders to handle capital cases, to automatic appeals that are triggered by a death sentence. Death row inmates are more costly to house/guard.

@358,276 (C)Becky is correct re cost. Still trying to find a comparison for Texas - Other States quickly found, frying them is damn expensive but makes attorneys damn rich. - ACLU Legal types exception to that rule.

if it was me i'd argue for the right to choose the method by which i'm executed.
i would call lethal injection degrading since it's how they put down lame animals.

Not exactly. We all will die and few of us know when. Those in stage 4 cancer are the exceptions and many feel so awful, so it may be welcome for some of them.

On occasions I think about my own death; Usually because of a news item I can relate too. I cannot remember the last time I thought about my sudden death. I know I have but its not very often. (When Rock climbing I am sure I block that out)

There was a picture of the victim shown on WFAA Channel 8 news in a Dec. 1994 10 o'clock news report on the Texas Deadbolt Law (which came about when the survivors of Michelle Wendy Haupt filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the owners of the aprtment building where she was slain).
