Now that I have your attention: How can the wireless network adapter of a netbook simply disappear from the radar without leaving so much as an error?
The product in question is an Eee PC 900 currently running on XP.

The PC just casually forgot it ever knew how to W-LAN or that it has the necessary hardware.

Also, if it died, it can easily happen that no error is detected...since well, it's dead and nothing is recognized as connected...
